Home to New Zealand’s tallest peak and largest glacier, Aoraki National Park is a dramatic world of towering mountains, vast glaciers and remote snowfields. The only way to truly  take in its full grandeur is from up in the sky – and this scenic flight delivers exactly that. 

Departing from Wanaka Airport, you will begin with spectacular aerial views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding township. Your experienced pilot will highlight key points of interest, offering fascinating insights throughout the flight. You will begin to fly up the spine of the South Island, tracking along the heart of the Southern Alps for endless views of snowclad mountains and crystal clear alpine lakes  – including Lake Pukaki, arguably one of New Zealand’s most beautiful lake. Once you arrive at  Mount Cook, your pilot will take you on a grand tour around the Mount Cook area where you will see some of the famous & major glaciers: Tasman Glacier, Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier. You will then land in Glentanner, a scenic alpine outpost  for a short pit stop where you can stretch or legs or enjoy a warm drink before we make the scenic return back to Wanaka Airport. The return leg of the trip will take a different flight path so that you can enjoy even more scenic views, which include the west coast of the South Island and the Tasman sea.
